hydrated, fluffy and scoopable fully mixed with all ingredients.
Wetter is fine, just not soupy unless your horse has teeth issues. Below are articles about benefits feeding Timothy pellets, Flax Seed, Rice bran, applecider vinegar, garlic...
I love the addition of Spearmint/Peppermint 50/50 mix leaves or powder too. Great for the tummy and gets rid of the "garlic smell" for those who don't want their barn to smell like garlic.
If you are using homeopathics and the homeopathic nosodes, you may want to not use the spearmint/peppermint for a couple days before and a couple days after
as it is said to inactivate them.

I feed daily digestive supplement to increase absorption of all nutrients consumed, ABC PLUS since 1990.
I also keep on hand, MOP to mop up toxins without causeing a detox flu reaction
, Liquid Probi to restore friendly gut bacteria growth, Equine Target Factors in case of a fever/illness needing immune system balancing,
and I feed ABC NOMS 3 weeks every 2 or 3 months & Parasite Tonic 2 times a year as my natural dewormer and Equine GutFlush in case of colic.

I feed this mix once daily. If I have a horse that
needs supplements twice daily I'll hold out one or more dog food scoop full
for next morning feeding. (My 36 yo mare is on wet feed only, can't eat hay anymore)
(for about 10 years I have fed beet pulp, but in light of new articles about beet pulp and GMO's I am changing!)

Per Horse - 1 to 2 cups dry measured Timothy pellets, (I'm really pleased with how warm my horses stay in the winter..there is so much fiber that slow metabolizes-better than the bp)
Hydrate with 1 to 2 qts hot water, (adjust as needed, fluffy not soppy)

1 ounce or so (up to 2 cups) apple cider vinegar,

from 1 teaspoon up to 3 Tablespoons garlic powder/granulated
per horse,

1/3 cup up to 2/3 cup whole flax seed per horse,

1/2 cup rice bran (I prefer the granulated kind but pelleted will be fine too).

1/2 teaspoon of Spearmint and 1/2 teaspoon of Peppermint herbs per horse.
(helps with digestion, soothing, tasty, and cuts the garlic smell alot)

1/2 teaspoon Dandelion herbs per horse see benefits below
(this and the spearmint/peppermint makes a wonderful tea
for the feed to hydrate in) During the Spring and Summer months.

1 tablespoon Chamomile powder (see benefits below)

If your horse is not insulin resistant you can add 1 to 3 cups whole oats to the hydration mix.

This mix prior to the supps, costs me $5/day to feed all 11 to 14 horses.

( I read that corn and canola oil cause chronic inflammation and I can attest that canola does for sure,
so if you see corn anywhere in my article here replace it with coconunt oil, olive oil, flaxseed oil,
(I prefer not any coca/soy, or soy as Soy is GMO)or no oil at all.
I found that the 1/2 cup of whole flax seed has tons of oil in it when allowed to soak)
Coconut Oil is great for horses a tablespoon or 2 works.

I, Mix into the hydrated mix when ready to feed,
1/2 to 1 cup STABILIZED RICE BRAN (Satin Finish/Omegashine granulated) per horse
1/2 a cup I find is safe for IR and laminitic prone horses (Rice bran is not typically recommended by the manuf for IR or Cushings or
EPSM or EPM or any condition that requires LOW NSC's.) I use it because of its major HEALING POWERS and
over 120 identified antioxidants,

Use any "digestive supplement" you want. Assure or Assure PLUS or Assure Gold
but you don't have to duplicate if you are top dressing with ABC Plus, PLUS Fortified or ABC G.R.P which is my number 1 choice
ABC's Selenium/Vit E
, (be sure to check with
your local county extension office to find out if your area is high or low in selenium)
We also have a natural Vit E supplement if your area/hay is high in selenium)
Humic Shale Ore or
Can us Bentonite Clay too if you want (the Bentonite Clay is not recommended for all the time).

Feed 2 to 3 or 4 dog food (1 qt) scoops per horse, in my case as much as needed to
help horse regain some wt if they lost alot. Very safe feed mix. Slow metabolizing
so is great in the winter too, keeps them satisfied and warm.

You can top dress with ABC PLUS, ABC PLUS Fortified or ABC G.R.P. and ABC HOOF for all needing extra.
I give my oldies extra 4 oz up to 8 oz daily of ABC PLUS, and 1/2 maint dose (2oz) to those
that are healthy and getting enough from the EZ that I put in my feed mix when I'm trying to stretch the product.

I'm mixing for 11-14 horses usually.
So I'm guessing for one horse. About 2 qts hot water to 1 to 2 cups dry
Measured Timothy Pellets per horse. 1 oz apple cider vinegar, up to
3 T garlic powder/granulated per horse.

My mixing is in a 5 gal bucket. 2 1/2 to 3 gallons hot water and 1 quart

(soak the whole oats separate for
the 2 horses that I give 3 cups dry wt whole oats each)

About 1 1/2 to 2 inches in the bottom of 1 gallon jug of
Apple cider vinegar. In the other gallon I put 1 teaspoon per
Horse up to 3 Tablespoons per horse of the garlic and fill
With hot water and shake to dissolve. I use 3 T per horse
Year round of the garlic. If you are just starting out, go with
1 Teaspoon and build up to 3 Tablespoons over a little time
Allowing the horse to get used to it. Mine love it. Smells
Like Doritos and they lick the buckets clean. You want
The Timothy pellets after hydrated to be fluffy and damp. Not
Soggy and fully hydrated. No little hard pieces preferably.
If you add oil you can add it to the mix stir it all around and put
the lid on and allow it to hydrate for 5 hours or more. I mix
this in the morning and feed at evening feeding and save some
for next morning when I have horses getting supplements
twice daily.

During the winter I feed more than I do in the summer, still
Mostly one time per day at dinner to keep them warm through
The nite and not cold or massively hungry in the morning.
I can easily feed as late as noon and not have anyone colicy
Or massively hungry and mad at me. During the summer the
Garlic and applecider vinegar really help with the insects and
I always give them their supplements daily anyway.
I like to give the Garlic and Applecider Vinegar year round
for their great nutritional and digestive properties.

If you are still feeding BP. NOTE: Never feed this beet pulp dry. It plumps up fast and
Sticks in their throat and they choke. This requires
An ACE shot in the muscle from your vet to allow them
To relax their throat enough for it to go down. (I've
Done this 3 different times so "don't do it", they will
Eventually choke on it and get very distressed and anxious)

NOTE: Winter of 2007 and 2008 I tried to eliminate flax seed
due to the crazy prices of feed.
I eliminated the flax seed to find out in a week that my arthritic previously
foundered mare couldn't walk, so added it back in and in a few days she
was walking again.

Stinging nettle is a plant. People use the root and above ground parts as medicine.

Stinging nettle is used for many conditions, but so far, there isn’t enough scientific evidence to determine whether or not it is effective for any of them.

Stinging nettle root is used for urination problems related to an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia [BPH]). These problems include nighttime urination, too frequent urination, painful urination, inability to urinate, and irritable bladder.

Stinging nettle root is also used for joint ailments, as a diuretic, and as an astringent.

Stinging nettle above ground parts are used along with large amounts of fluids in so-called “irrigation therapy” for urinary tract infections (UTI), urinary tract inflammation, and kidney stones (nephrolithiasis). The above-ground parts are also used for allergies, hayfever, and osteoarthritis.

Some people use the above ground parts of stinging nettle for internal bleeding, including uterine bleeding, nosebleeds, and bowel bleeding. The above ground parts are also used for anemia, poor circulation, an enlarged spleen, diabetes and other endocrine disorders, stomach acid, diarrhea and dysentery, asthma, lung congestion, rash and eczema, cancer, preventing the signs of aging, “blood purification,” wound healing, and as a general tonic.

Stinging nettle above ground parts are applied to the skin for muscle aches and pains, oily scalp, oily hair, and hair loss (alopecia).

In foods, young stinging nettle leaves are eaten as a cooked vegetable.

In manufacturing, stinging nettle extract is used as an ingredient in hair and skin products.

Stinging nettle leaf has a long history of use. It was used primarily as a diuretic and laxative in ancient Greek times.

Don’t confuse stinging nettle (Uritica dioica) with white dead nettle (Lamium album).

How does it work?
Stinging nettle contains ingredients that might decrease inflammation and increase urine output.

What is Chamomile?
Chamomile Health Benefits
Chamomile is an herb that comes from a flowering plant from the daisy family. Both the fresh and dried flowers of chamomile have been used to create teas for centuries to cure a number of health problems. The active ingredient in chamomile essential oil is known as bisabolol, which has a number of anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.

What are the Benefits of Chamomile?
Chamomile can be used topically or orally to treat a number of everyday ailments, such as:

Insomnia and other sleep disorders
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Muscle twitches
Wounds, burns, and scrapes
Skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, chickenpox, and diaper rash
Stomach problems such as menstrual cramps, stomach flu, and ulcers
Uses of Chamomile

Chamomile has been found to contain fairly strong antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory constituents. Therefore, it has been found to be effective in treating stomach and intestinal cramps. Simply prepare a cup of Chamomile tea following the directions on the package and drink it twice a day until while symptoms are present (one cup first thing in the morning, and one in the evening).

Chamomile is wonderful remedy for sleep disorders such as insomnia. Simply make a chamomile tea 30 to 45 minutes before going to bed to treat sleeplessness.

Chamomile reduces cramping and pain in the bowels and also helps to relieve excessive gas and bloating in the intestines. Therefore, a simple remedy is to drink a cup of chamomile tea to help relieve irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, and gastroenteritis or stomach flu.

Chamomile is a wonderful cure for migraines. Take a cup of tea when you start noticing the symptoms of a migraine headache. It works best if you take it before the headache actually gets severe.

Drinking chamomile tea has been found to be beneficial in treating PMS and Menstrual Cramps.

Chamomile oil is very useful in treating bad burns. Simple rub a small amount of oil gently across the burned area once a day. For scrapes and burns you can also brew a strong concoction by adding 3 tea bags to one cup of boiling water. When the water cools, dip a cloth into it and use it as a compress on the wounded area.

Chamomile has been found to be advantageous for lightening your skin tone. Simply bring two quarts of water to a boil with 2 chamomile tea bags in it. Then place your face above the steaming pot of chamomile tea. A bath in water mixed with chamomile tea works too.

Chamomile tea has been found to help relieve eye fatigue and dark circles. A simple remedy is to dip 2 chamomile tea bags in warm water. After 5 minutes, remove the tea bags from the water and let them cool to room temperature. Then place them on your eyes at night as a compress.

What are the Side Effects of Chamomile?
As with all herbal products, moderation is the key to avoiding adverse reactions. Some of the potential side effects of chamomile include drowsiness, so use it with caution if you are driving or operating machinery. High doses of chamomile can also cause vomiting and/or skin reactions in some individuals. If you are allergic to ragweed pollen or have hayfever, you may have difficulty using chamomile.

Using chamomile during pregnancy is not recommended, since it is considered to be an abortifacient (a substance that induces abortion). Chamomile is also not recommended if you are currently taking blood thinners, since chamomile contains a substance called coumarin (which is also a blood thinner).

Where and How to Buy Chamomile
Chamomile can be bought as dried flower heads, an infusion (tea), liquid extract, essential oil, tinctures (concentrated in alcohol), and in creams and ointments. Tea bags are the most common form and can be found at many mainstream grocery stores and pharmacies.

What Are the
Benefits of Dandelion Root?

Dandelion is a member of the sunflower family.
Although dandelions grow wild, and gardeners consider the plant to be a nuisance, dandelion is one of the most nutrient-rich herbs in the plant kingdom. Because of dandelion's versatility, many cultures have used its roots and leaves for centuries to treat medical conditions and for culinary purposes. Dandelion root offers powerful health benefits, and you can use it fresh or dried, in tea, in capsule form or in extracts.

Promotes Liver Health
Dandelion root contains antioxidants, which are powerful substances that help protect your body from free radicals – the unstable molecules that can damage healthy cells. Studies also show that dandelion root extract has protective properties against alcohol-induced liver poisoning because of its antioxidant power, according to an article published in "Food and Chemical Toxicology" in June 2010.

Protects Against Cancer
Chemo-resistant melanoma, which is a very aggressive form of skin cancer, has become the most prevalent form of cancer for North Americans in the 25 to 29 age range, according to an article published in "Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine" in 2011. The article noted that a study that investigated the effectiveness of dandelion root on melanoma revealed that dandelion root extract has been very effective in the death of melanoma cells.

Offers Gastrointestinal Relief
Dandelion root extract is helpful in enhancing digestion, as it contains diuretic properties and therapeutic benefits for people who experience constipation. Dandelion root tea is used as a tonic for many conditions related to the digestive system, such as an upset stomach, loss of appetite and intestinal gas. It's also used in treating gallstones. This powerful herb contains substances that may increase urine production and promote bowel movements, according to MedlinePlus.

Note the Safety Considerations
Dandelion is generally considered safe. It can, however, cause allergic reactions when taken orally or if it is rubbed on the skin of sensitive people. People who are allergic to ragweed and related plants, such as daisies, chrysanthemum and marigolds, may be allergic to dandelion, according to MedlinePlus. If you experience allergies, speak with your doctor before taking dandelion in any form. In addition, since medical professionals know little about using dandelion root during pregnancy and breast feeding -- if you're pregnant or nursing -- it's advisable to speak with your doctor before using dandelion root.

Dandelion (taraxum officinale), historically speaking, had medicinal use as treatment for diseases of the liver, spleen, and kidneys. Fast forward into contemporary times, medical research could not find any dandelion root benefits to treat any such disease. Could it be that the ancients were wrong about the dandelion root? Some believe that old wisdom still has its merit as we present reasons why dandelion can still provide huge health benefits.

It has been long established that contemporary lifestyle has made lifestyle-related diseases among the number one killers in history. Smoking, alcohol, fast food, pollution, the lack of physical activity and other products of postmodern convenience have all contributed to the decline in health of postmodern society. For centuries, herbalists have offered solutions towards promoting health, and they are trying to keep their relevance through their naturalist methods of alternative medical treatment. The dandelion root benefits found in the extracts of the plant, in particular, is one of the things that a herbalist highly recommends for health maintenance.

Dandelion Root May Prevent or Helps Manage Diabetes

Animal studies conducted using diabetic mice have shown that antidiabetis herbal preparations that make use of dandelion root extract help regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels. While studies in humans remain to reveal definitive health benefits, such animal studies probe to be promising. Unless one is allergic to dandelion root or has a compromised liver or kidneys, taking such supplements at reasonable dosage wouldn’t really hurt.

Dandelion Root Fights Free Radicals

Free radicals are known to wreak havoc in the cellular level, their most common effect being converting normal cells into cancer cells. Dandelion root preparations have been found to have significant amounts of antioxidants that have been scientifically proven to eliminate free radicals. Eliminating free radicals therefore lead to a lesser risk of developing cancer.

Dandelion Roots and Leaves Support Your Liver and Kidneys

Liver and kidneys are the body’s built-in waste processing units, both of which eliminate poisons in the blood and make sure it has the correct chemical balance and volume. These organs, however, take a heavy toll and would eventually wear themselves out. Dandelion root helps detoxify the liver and improves both liver and gallbladder function by preventing gallstone formation or helping eliminate them. Dandelion leaves, on the other hand, is a good diuretic and potassium supplement meaning that it helps keep blood pressure at bay while making sure you have enough potassium.

Dandelion Promotes a Healthy Appetite and an Efficient Digestive System

Anybody feeling a bout of indigestion, fullness, flatulence, or discomfort may forego having Alka Seltzer and have some dandelion instead. A tonic can be concocted out of dandelion as a digestive aid, a treatment for dyspepsia, and as a mild laxative as a solution for habitual constipation. The decoction itself is also a very good appetite stimulant.

Dandelion is a Cancer Buster

A Japanese study demonstrated that active ingredients found in the dandelion have shown to inhibit tumor growth on mice afflicted with skin cancer. Another study showed dandelions prowess against breast and prostate cancer. This particular research showed that extracts from dandelion leaves caused decrease in breast cancer cell growth and proliferation and block prostate cancer cell invasion. Extracts from roots were observed to block invasion caused by breast cancer cells.

Dandelions are Great Sources of Vitamins and Minerals

Dried dandelion rootDandelion preparations are rich in a variety of vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and B vitamins. Iron, potassium, and zinc are minerals found in dandelion. Health and nutrition briefly states that vitamin A is good for the eyesight, vitamin C is essential for cell growth and repair, and B vitamins regulate many metabolic functions. Its iron content is beneficial for red blood cell and liver functions, potassium helps maintain overall body fluid and blood pressure balance as well as ensures efficient muscle contraction and never transmission. Lastly, zinc is an important trace mineral that is required for metabolic activity of at least 300 enzymes in the human body, cell division, and DNA and protein synthesis.

To put it in simpler terms, dandelions are rich in nutrients whether it is in the roots, leaves, or the flowers. By just realizing how nutrient-dense dandelions are, they have the potential to become great nutritional supplements for promoting health and prevention of disease. The old quote “An ounce of prevention is worth much more than a pound of cure” is something to be taken seriously as health care costs continue to go up, and therefore taking dandelion supplements every now and then can help you save more money in the long run and give you a better quality of life. Its abilities to fight disease, of course, are a very welcome bonus.

Satin Finish Stabilized Rice Bran nor Natural Glo/Equine Shine is not recommended for HYPP Positive Horses,

The Many Benefits of Flaxseeds a FREE article

By Jennifer Gruenemay, LifeScript Staff Writer

Flaxseeds have a long history of medicinal use, being traced back to the ancient Babylonians who dwelled
over 5,000 years ago. The earliest mention of flaxseeds in recorded history occurred in 650 B.C. when
Hippocrates wrote about the benefits of flaxseeds for easing abdominal pains. Today, these seeds are cultivated
both for use in the textile industry and as a nutritional aide. Nutritionally speaking, flaxseeds are known to be
a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, both of which have demonstrated the power to combat
heart disease and certain types of cancer.

Why Flaxseed is Good for You
As a natural source of fiber and one of the easiest ways to supplement your diet essential fatty acids, flaxseeds
are becoming a pantry staple in many health-conscious consumers’ homes.

One of the greatest benefits of flaxseeds and flaxseed oil is that they are a good source of omega-3s, which
is a type of essential fatty acid.

The key word to remember here is “essential,” which means that the body is incapable of producing this
compound on its own.

Therefore, it must rely on dietary intake to receive proper amounts of this health-promoting nutrient.

Proper intake of omega 3 fatty acids is essential to good health.

Unfortunately, the typical American diet, which is low in fish and rarely includes flaxseeds, does not
provide sufficient amounts of this essential fat, making supplementation almost mandatory.

Will you notice a difference in your health if you do not get enough omega 3s in your diet?

It’s possible, since dry skin, hair and nails are all signs of an omega 3 deficiency.

What you may not notice due to a lack of essential omega 3 fatty acids in your diet is what is even more
important – the health of your heart.

Proper intake of omega 3s, which can easily be achieved by eating more fatty fish and flaxseeds, has been
shown to lower both cholesterol and blood pressure, which helps to protect against heart disease.

Since heart disease is currently ranked as the #1 killer of both men and women in the U.S., eating more
flaxseeds and fatty fish would be an intelligent preventative measure to take against this deadly killer.

More Benefits of Flaxseeds
Not only do flaxseeds provide heart-healthy omega 3s, but they also are a rich source of lignans,
a specialized type of fiber.

Lignans have phytochemical-like properties that may fight colon, prostate, breast, and
skin cancers, as well as ease some of the symptoms of menopause.

Flaxseeds are the most abundant source of lignans, boasting up to 800 times more than other foods.

Flaxseeds have also been found to:

- Have anti-inflammatory properties that may be useful in the treatment of lupus and gout.

- Dissolve gallstones.

- Strengthen and fortify hair, nail and skin, as well as speed the healing of skin lesions.

- Help clear up acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and even help heal sunburns more quickly.

- Facilitate nerve impulses, which may prove to be useful in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy,
Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

- Relieve constipation and diverticulosis.

- Regulate mood and decrease the tendency toward depression.

If you want to start experiencing the many benefits of flaxseeds, take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil
a day and sprinkle flaxseeds on your yogurt and salads.

Make sure to keep flaxseed oil cold and stored in an opaque container to avoid damage from light and heat.

Do not cook with flaxseeds, since heat destroys their beneficial effect.

Some people are allergic to flaxseeds, so if you have a tendency toward food allergies, please use
caution if trying flaxseeds for the first time.

Benefits of Flax
What is flax?

Flax is one of the most ancient of useful herbs. Its Latin name, Linum usitatissimum, means "most useful."
Flaxseed excavated from ancient Greek archeological sites has been dated back to 1900 to 1700 B.C., and
the use of flaxseed is inscribed on tablets at Pylos. Both the Greek historian Thucydides and the Roman Pliny
mention the use of flax for food. In fact, so impressed with this gift of nature Pliny wrote, "What department
is to be found in active life in which flax is not employed?" Of flax Bartholomew had this to say, "None herbe
is so needfull to so many dyurrse uses to mankynde as is the flexe." And Dioscorides extolled flaxseed's
power for "mollifying all inflammation inwardly and outwardly." Hippocrates encouraged the use of flaxseed
for the relief of abdominal pains, while Theophrastus recommended flax mucilage as a cough remedy.
Hildegarde of Bingen used flax meal in hot compresses for the treatment of both external and internal ailments.

The value of flax to these early cultures is reflected in the rich folklore that surrounds the plant. Flax was believed
to be a blessed plant; one that could bring good fortune and restore health. French leader Charlemagne, so
impressed with the herb's culinary, medicinal, and domestic usefulness, passed laws and regulations requiring
its cultivation and consumption. Flax was much loved and widely cultivated throughout Europe after that,
and its cultivation and use continued to expand to other lands and cultures.

Benefits of Rice Bran
Satin Finish, a stabilized rice bran formula. Satin Finish typically contains 20% oil, composed of the three major fats;
palmitic, oleic and linoleic, and important vitamins such as Thiamin, Riboflavin and Niacin.

It is stabilized by using enzymes, and none of the nutritional value is lost because it is not cooked.

Rice bran is a rich source of hypoallergenic protein, oil, dietary fiber, and nutrients essential to life.

Rice bran is unique in the plant kingdom. It is the only major cereal that contains all of the essential
amino acids, the necessary building blocks of all protein in the body.

Rice bran contains 18-23% oil, which is high in polyunsaturates and monounsaturates and is extraordinary
in heat stability. Rice bran oil contains significant amounts of the essential fatty acids, linolenic acid, and
linoleic acid that are necessary in order to maintain full health as well as a broad range of nutraceutical
compounds that have been demonstrated to have remarkable therapeutic properties.

Nutraceuticals are natural compounds that have therapeutic effects on human systems. Some of these
compounds, including a newly discovered complex of Vitamin E called “tocotrienols,” and gamma oryzanol,
which is found only in rice bran
, have been demonstrated to moderate blood serum cholesterol and reduce
triglycerides in hyperlipidemic individuals. Tocotrienols are being investigated for anti-cancer properties
in a broad spectrum of different cancers. These compounds are potent antioxidants that protect the
body from free-radical damage.

Rice bran also contains very high concentrations of B-complex vitamins. The B vitamins are vital to the
health of the entire body but especially for the health of the nervous system and brain. Rice bran also
contains beta carotene, a precursor of Vitamin A, and other carotenoids as well as most of the
important minerals (low in Ca) and fiber.

Rice bran has a density of protein, vitamins, minerals and more than 120 known naturally occurring antioxidants.

WebMD Medical News Reviewed By Gary Vogin, MD

April 10, 2002 -- Diabetics may have a new weapon to help them lower their blood sugar levels.
Rice bran was able to lower blood glucose by up to 30% in a small group of patients with type
1 or 2 diabetes participating in a pilot study.

Researchers report that one out of four diabetics taking part in the 57-subject study were able to reduce
their daily injection of insulin or medication dosages after adding stabilized rice bran to their diets for just
two months. The findings were reported in the March issue of the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.

"These are preliminary findings, and they need to be duplicated in a larger group of patients taking
rice bran as a nutritional supplement for longer periods," says lead researcher Asaf A. Qureshi, PhD.
"But in this study, rice bran proved to be very good at lowering blood glucose levels."

Qureshi and colleagues at Advanced Medical Research in Madison, Wis., also found that patients
with elevated cholesterol who consumed 20 grams per day of stabilized rice bran lowered their total
serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels between 5% and 15%.

The rice bran formulations evaluated by the researchers are manufactured by the California nutraceutical
company NutraStar Inc. In company literature, rice bran is touted as "the most nutritious food on earth,"
and NutraStar markets its four rice bran products for a host of conditions including arthritis, constipation, and joint problems.

But the diabetes research is the first human trial to offer scientific evidence of rice bran's benefit.
Studies have shown that eating a high-fiber diet lowers blood sugar levels, but the water-soluble
rice bran that worked best in the study was not high in fiber.

Nutritionist Barbara Levine, RD, PhD, agrees that larger trials are needed to confirm the study's findings.
But she says that the promising early findings are intriguing. Levine is director of the
Human Nutrition Program at New York's Rockefeller University.

Levine cited findings from the ongoing Framingham Heart Study showing that obese people with
type 2 diabetes have a 99% chance of developing heart disease. The CDC now estimates
that 35 million Americans have diabetes.

"Right now there is very little out there for diabetics, other than medication," she says. "There is an
epidemic of diabetes in this country, and it is largely linked to the epidemic of obesity. The most important
thing diabetics can do is keep their weight under control and eat appropriate foods. But if soluble rice bran can help, I'm all for it."

For centuries, mothers in India believed that the rice bran
which encapsulates white rice held certain healing powers
that worked miracles on their ill children.
The outer layer of rice, the ‘rice bran’, contains 65% of the nutrients found
in the kernel. In other words, over two thirds of the rice kernel’s nutrients lie in the bran.
Unfortunately, the life span
of the fragile rice bran is short, rendering it useless within hours after being milled from the kernel. Because the
outer layer contains an enzyme called lipase which causes the rice to become rancid within hours after harvesting,
the bran has always been removed and discarded. Efforts to prolong the life-sustaining power of the rice bran were
fruitless. For the past 50 years, every major rice growing country in the world has searched for a way to stabilize
the bran, but without success. A major breakthrough in extrusion technology has now unlocked the means to stabilize
the rice bran while maintaining and enhancing its nutritional value. The stabilization is accomplished without the
use of chemicals or any additives. This special processing of rice concentrates has combined extracts and stabilized
fractions to deliver the ultimate nutritional complex. The rice bran has been transformed into one of the most
valuable food resources ever discovered.

In fact, it is believed that Stabilized Rice Bran is the most bioavailable whole food on earth.

Why do you need it?

Rice bran is one of the most potent sources of phytochemicals of any food. It contains all of the vitamins, minerals,
and other nutrients needed to help fight disease, aging and to help promote health.
According to research and clinical
studies conducted at the University of Wisconsin, it contains compounds which dramatically reduce harmful
cholesterol levels (LDL), while increasing the good cholesterol (HDL) required for a healthy coronary artery system.

Certain antioxidants that are present in Stabilized Rice Bran have been documented to support the slowing of the
aging process and to battle free radicals that are linked to degenerative conditions.
Antioxidant supplements work
by boosting the immune system to help fight off free radical damage.
Free radical damage is caused by oxidation
with the cells; antioxidants neutralize the damage of oxidation. For example, the power of tocopherols has a positive
effect on cholesterol levels. These antioxidants boost the body’s ability to regenerate itself while bolstering its
energy and stamina. Their ability to help regulate blood sugar levels may prove helpful to diabetics and others
who suffer from hypoglycemia.

Benefits of feeding Timothy
Timothy Hay for Horses - Timothy is non-GMO

Timothy Hay for horses, Anderson Hay Timothy hay is the most digestible of all hays and is one of the most popular hay feeds for horses.
The hay is a late-maturing high fiber bunchgrass with a relatively low protein content.

Horse owners have found that Timothy hay promotes a shiny coat,
good digestion, bowel regularity, and a healthy weight. It is also excellent for colic prone, protein-sensitive, and obese horses.

Timothy hay is highly recommended for horses confined to a stable because it offers more chewing time.

It most closely mimics the normal day long grazing activity for pasture animals, which is anywhere from 10-15 hours a day.

Feeding on Timothy hay can help satisfy your horse's natural urge to chew and graze when they are confined to stalls for long periods of time.

Timothy Hay is an exceptional roughage and fiber source. It is a late-maturing bunchgrass with a relatively low protein and high fiber content.

The long stem and consistent quality allows good consumption and provides good conditioning for dairy cows.

For many years, Timothy hay has been well known and widely used in the race horse industry as well.

The product was discovered by race horse owners as their premium feed for award winning Kentucky Derby horses.

Alpacas love Timothy hay, too.

Anderson Hay, Ellensburg, WA

Timothy is grass hay with no sugars added.

· Soy - There is no need for soy in a horses diet at all as a protein source. Horses require very little protein.
The information you sent about what soy contains is correct – I concur with it all.
We use organic soy at extremely low levels for specific amino acids, but not as a protein source.
In most of my products (ex: Fortified and Plus) it is fermented for enzymes.
We also use unprocessed organic soy oil as a dust control.

· IR and Hypothyroidism is a mineral deficiency caused by glyphosate in most cases.
The years prior to glyphosate it was poor mineral fortification and poor digestion.

Jim Helfter, Helfter Feeds and ABC

· Estrogen – Not great for your gelding and not great to overload your mare with.

· Hemagglutinin – Causes red blood cells to clump. These cells are unable to absorb oxygen.

· Phytic Acid - This acid will block the body’s ability to absorb important minerals.

· Natural toxins or Antinutrients

· Enzyme inhibitors – These inhibitors block enzymes that the body needs to digest protein. This can lead to major mineral and protein deficiencies.

· Isoflavones – Depresses thyroid function and can be responsible in the formation of goiter.

Reduced thyroid function has a clear effect on insulin resistance. Thyroid hormones affect carbohydrate metabolism through increasing intestinal glucose absorption
and facilitating the movement of glucose into fat and muscle cells. Thyroid hormones facilitate insulin mediated glucose uptake by the cells. Soybean meal has been a
large part of horse feed for many years. The soy used is a byproduct of the vegetable oil industry that needs a place to dump its waste.

Benefits of Beet Pulp
without Molasses!- I'm no longer feeding beet pulp but Timothy Pellets instead!

In feeding an easy-keeper (those with the "thrifty" gene :-)), a prone-to-founder horse, or a
potential insulin resistant horse, you can supplement with non-molasses beet pulp.

Potential or suspected insulin resistant (IR) horses may display some of the following symptoms:
excessive drinking and urination, patchy fat and / or large heavy crest, any chronic laminitis,
any laminitis /founder which seems to be from underexercise and overweight.

It is very important to reduce the amount of sugar for the above types of horses. The non-molasses
type of beet pulp generally can have anywhere from 5 to 10% sugar with a glycemic index of 1
which means that it does not have much affect on blood glucose levels. Oats has a glycemic
index of 100 and bermuda hay has a glycemic index of around 20.

From The Horse (2/03) regarding beet pulp written by Ray Geor, BVSc, PhD (equine exercise physiology),
Dipl. ACVIM: "Plain beet pulp is a low-glycemic feed--there is little rise in blood glucose as most
of the energy is provided in the form of volatile fatty acids, products of the fermentation occurring
in the cecum and large colon. Therefore, beet pulp can be classified as a source of "calm energy."

The ratio is approximately one pound of beet pulp equal to 1.5 lbs of average grass hay, with some
estimates being closer to 1 : 2.

One of the ingredients in the Cushings cube is also beet pulp.

Generally the beet pulp is rinsed a couple of times before feeding. It comes in a couple of
different types, shredded and pellets, molasses added, plain. If you cannot find plain beet pulp,
rinse it until it becomes clear. You may want to rinse / soak your hay to relieve it from sugar also.

There should be no other sources of sugar for these horses: no grain products, no senior feed,
no carrots, no apples, no manufactured treats. Some of these horses cannot tolerate alfalfa.

Some owners have had success in supplementing with cinnamon, approximately one teaspoon
per 250 pounds, for IR horses. See the EC Files section for more info.

If you need to feed treats (not that horses need them :-)), here is a list of acceptable treats as
recommended by Dr. Kellon:

[] No grains, flour, processed fats, sugar, honey, molasses.

[] Human foods such as breads, cookies, pasta, or baked horse treats.

[] No fruits.

[] No carrots or apples.

Even a very small amount of the above can set off an IR horse. (BTW, it is suggested NOT to bed on straw.)

Things to use in place of the above:

[] A bit of his normal hay or acceptable pellets (bermuda).

[] iceberg lettuce, celery, mushroom, fresh parsley

[] Small amount of apple peel (no chunks of fruit attached)

[] Tablespoon of low fat, plain, unsweetened yogurt

[] Shells and papery outer covering of nuts (save those peanut, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed shells)

[] Small palmful of shelled peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, soybeans (not roasted, flavored or fat added)

Adding oil will blunt the glycemic response to a single feeding, but using it chronically
worsens insulin resistance in ponies for sure, quite possibly in horses as well - especially
if they were insulin resistant to start with.

Wheat bran has a high carbohydrate count, so be careful of its use.

Balancing minerals with the hay and beet pulp needs to be taken into consideration.
Rice bran is the best / most concentrated phosphorus source, however, take care in feeding
too much.
Poor bone quality is going to be the consequence if you don't. We stay away from
wheat bran with IR horses and use rice bran, SMALL amounts, just to balance the calcium
in the beet pulp and to get some omega 3 fatty acids into them.

For growing horses, a 50:50 mix of oats (some Icelandic Horses don't tolerate oats, my gelding
is an example of this as he gets very "high" in a nervous reactive way with oats) and beet pulp
is good as a base for supplements. This blend is already major mineral balanced and you can
use it as a carrier for the other minerals you need. Beet pulp has a calorie density equivalent to
plain grains but since it soaks up to a very high volume you end up diluting the calories by a
factor of about 4. The moist pulp holds minerals very well.

Susan Garlinghouse's article on beet pulp is interesting:

The Physiological Effects of Garlic

Studies by competent multi-degreed scientists have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that consuming garlic
generally has the following physical effects:

Garlic lowers blood pressure a little.
Garlic lowers LDL Cholesterol a little.
Garlic helps reduce atherosclerotic buildup (plaque) within the arterial system. One recent study shows this effect
to be greater in women than men.
Garlic lowers or helps to regulate blood sugar.
Garlic helps to prevent blood clots from forming, thus reducing the possibility of strokes and thromboses (It may not
be good for hemophiliacs).
Garlic helps to prevent cancer, especially of the digestive system, prevents certain tumors from growing larger
and reduces the size of certain tumors.
Garlic helps to remove heavy metals such as lead and mercury from the body.
Raw Garlic is a potent natural antibiotic and, while far less strong than modern antibiotics, can still kill some
strains of bacteria that have become immune or resistant to modern antibiotics.
Garlic has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.
Garlic dramatically reduces yeast infections due to Candida species.
Garlic has anti-oxidant properties and is a source of selenium.
Garlic probably has other benefits as well.

Benefits of Garlic:

Insect repelling qualities

Natural MSM

Natural antioxidant

Antibacterial, helps fight infection

Antiviral, antifungal, and anti-parasitic

Helps build a healthy immune system

Inhibits the growth of cancer cells.

Aids in circulation and digestion by relieving inflammation of intestines

The health benefits of garlic

Garlic is one of the oldest known medicinal plants, and it's been credited with fighting heart disease,
lowering blood pressure and helping to fight off colds. Michele Simmons reports
The therapeutic qualities of garlic are nothing new. Sanskrit records reveal that garlic remedies were pressed
into service in India 5,000 years ago, while Chinese medicine has recognised garlic's powers for over 3,000 years.
Even Louis Pasteur, who discovered penicillin, recognised the anti-bacterial powers of garlic back in 1858.
And during World War One surgeons regularly used garlic juice to stop wounds turning septic.

So, what is it about garlic that makes it such a boon to our health? When cloves are chewed, crushed or cut, they
release a sulphur-bearing compound called allicin - the chemical that gives garlic its pungent taste and smell. And
it's the allicin that scientists have discovered is the magic ingredient thought to be responsible for garlic's therapeutic qualities.

Garlic - helping your health
Most of the modern research on garlic has concentrated on its ability to lower cholesterol and blood pressure as
well as offering protection against strokes and heart disease. For example, when the Journal of the Royal College
of Physicians reviewed data on cholesterol in 1993, it found that after just four weeks there was a 12 per cent
reduction in cholesterol levels in the research groups that had taken garlic.

Scientists have also looked at the role garlic plays in helping prevent the formation of blood clots. A review
of recent clinical trials, published in the Journal of Hypertension, showed that taking garlic tablets cut volunteers'
blood pressure by between one and five per cent. These results led the report's authors to conclude that taking
supplements could cut the incidence of stroke by anything from 30-40 per cent, while heart disease could be reduced by 20-25 percent.

While garlic is gathering a reputation for helping to maintain a healthy heart, regular amounts of garlic seems to also
help the body fight off infections. These antibacterial effects were first discovered in the early 19th century during an
outbreak of infectious fever - English priests caught the fever but the French priests, who ate garlic every day,
remained healthy. However, you don't need to suffer with a fever to benefit from garlic's health enhancing properties.

Pasteur discovered and wrote up the first antibiotic experiment, in which he watched a substance gobble up his bacteria specimens. That "substance" was garlic.

There has been more written about the wonderful benefits of garlic than any other food source known. Its history dates back 3,500 years:
Hippocrates, the father of medicine, was the first to write that garlic was an excellent medicine for eliminating tumors.

Recent studies on garlic have shown it to be:

1. Insecticidal—kills insects.

2. Parasiticidal—eliminates parasites.

3. Antibacterial—a wide spectrum antibiotic that doesn't kill the good bacteria.

4. Antifungal—eliminates fungal growth.

5. Antitumor—eliminates various tumors

6. Hypoglycemic—lowers sugar levels in the blood

7. Hypolipidemic—lowers harmful fat levels in the blood

8. Antiatherosclerotic—eliminates clogging of the arteries and plaque buildup, lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels

Additionally, garlic, containing germanium, helps tissues hold more oxygen, but is much less toxic than the expensive forms of germanium prescribed by physicians.

According to Dr David G Williams in his publication, Secrets of Life Extension: 10 Simple All-Natural Steps to Achieving Your Maximum Lifespan,
in AIDS studies, garlic extract was responsible for normalizing T-cell proportions, reducing diarrhea, fever, candidiasis, and occurrences
of genital herpes, and restoring natural killer (NK) cell activity. The report, by the way, was published only in Germany.

According do Dr Schulze, he's had a number of colon cancers dry up and die simply through a thorough colon cleanse and large doses of garlic.

Garlic comes to us in many forms, yet most of them found in health food stores contain mostly vegetable oil, very little garlic, and has been overprocessed.
It seems the best brand name garlic supplements on the market are Kyolic, which is pesticide free, aged for almost 20 months and available either freeze dried or liquid capsules.

I was under the impression that fresh garlic would be the best form, however, John Mastel, from Mastel's Health Foods, handed me some
literature on studies comparing the effects of garlic on immune system response and showed that aged garlic actually increased T-cell response
at a slightly higher rate than fresh.

It has been discovered that the diallyl sulfide in garlic reduces the formation of nitrosamines (carcinogens) in the liver. [Cancer Research, 1988; 48:23]

From health professionals, you can purchase the strongest form of aged garlic (made by the same company that makes Kyolic) called Garlic SGP Formula 102.
It contains 350 mg of garlic extract per capsule. You may order it from Progressive Laboratories at (800) 527-9512.

From Ivanhoe Broadcast News, Inc., we've just learned that Penn State researchers have discovered that the anti-tumor activity of garlic can be
destroyed by one minute of microwaving to forty-five minutes of oven roasting. Cooking kills garlic's anti-tumor properties. However, the good news
is it doesn't have to. For one thing, if you have cancer, avoid using your microwave entirely except to heat water. Next, chop up your garlic and let
it set for 10 minutes before adding it to anything about to be cooked. This enables naturally present enzymes in the garlic to start a chemical reaction
producing the compounds that fight tumors. Even better still, chop it up, let it sit, and add it only before serving.

There are cases on record where cancer was beaten with a good detoxication program and garlic alone. It's not just for Italian's any more.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Imagine what it can do for your horse.

Apple Cider Vinegar benefits have been known for thousands of years. Produced from the fermentation of apples,
it has been used as an antiseptic and a naturally occurring antibiotic and Hippocrates used it extensively on his patients.
Apple Cider Vinegar was known to the Ancient Greeks and Romans for its medicinal benefits, for disinfecting
wounds and for insect bites and snake bites and it's also mentioned in the Bible as an antiseptic and healing agent.

Apple Cider Vinegar contains over 90 vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other compounds: lactic acid, amino acids, propionic acid, acetic acid, enzymes, potash and apple pectin Trace elements / Minerals - Phosphorous, calcium, sodium, fluorine, silicon, potassium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, chlorine and copper Vitamins - A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, Provitamin beta-carotene and Bioflavonoids

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" (the dentist too!) - is an oft quotation which should not be considered
as just an obsolete "Old Wives Tale", as there is more than meets the eye in these axioms of yore. Apples are
among the most health-giving fruits available as they contain a host of nutritious properties viz: Phosphorous,
Cholerine, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sulphur, Iron, Fluorine, Silicon, plus many trace elements .......
and all of these are found in PURE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.

Amongst other things, cider vinegar is very effective in detoxicating various organs in the body together with the
blood stream. Hence it is a purifier
, as it has a means of breaking down fatty, mucous and phlegm deposits within the
body. It therefore, promotes the health of the vital organs of the body e.g. kidneys, bladder, liver etc., by preventing
an excessively alkaline urine.
Cider vinegar also helps oxidate the blood which consequently prevents the blood from
becoming too thick and gluey, which gives rise to a strained heart and blood vessels resulting in high blood pressure.
Cider vinegar also promotes digestion, assimilation and elimination and it neutralizes any toxic substance taken into
the body. There have been a number of instances where people who had taken a mixture of cider vinegar and water
before a meal were unaffected by diarrhoea, or digestive upsets, whilst their companions who ate the same meal were.
Hence the cider vinegar seemed to neutralize the harmful substances in the food eaten.

Apple cider vinegar has a potent supply of potassium which has become so widely acclaimed in the helping of
various complaints including: running nose. Excessive mucous formation, watery eyes, sinus and catarrhal troubles.
Teeth decay and the splitting of finger nails are also signs of potassium deficiency which are remedied by taking cider vinegar.
Potassium is essential for the normal growth of the body and for the replacement of worn-out tissues which depend upon
the presence of this mineral. It is as important to the soft tissues, as calcium is to the bones and teeth and it also retards
the hardening of the blood vessels.

As potassium is so important in the healthy growth of a plant, animal and human, a deficiency of this mineral will
produce such tendencies as callous formations on the soles of the feet, or the failure to replace worn-out tissues
as observed in the loss of hair.

Tests have proven that a soil deficient in this mineral-salt will produce anaemic and undersized plants,
however, when potassium is introduced into the soil the plant becomes sturdier and increases in height.
This is also the case with animals, where potassium which was fed to livestock, in the form of cider vinegar,
improved their appearance and stamina. Humans too, can benefit with this increased potassium intake. Especially
where children are slow developers and appear undersized. A few teaspoons of cider vinegar taken with water
each morning will show tremendous results. The best way to introduce cider vinegar to the family, is to substitute it
for the ordinary table vinegar and use it in the cooking. Potassium acts as a restraining influence upon those who
are over-excitable and nervous. It draws fluid back into the cells, for when potassium is lacking the body cells
shrink and their normal activity is restricted.

A number of outstanding authorities have proven the therapeutic advantages of using cider vinegar for
numerous complaints ranging from obesity and overweight to arthritis. Besides the therapeutic benefits derived from
taking cider vinegar therapy, as outlined in this book, it can also be used for a number of other purposes e.g. salad dressing,
pickling, a flavour in cooking etc. It also makes a very refreshing drink, hot or cold, with or without honey - this
should take the place of normal tea and coffee which are so habit-forming and unnecessary commodities.

Try using cider vinegar where lemon juice is required e.g. in making mayonnaise, or just sprinkle some
on a salad before serving; sprinkle on pawpaw for a refreshing breakfast, or just use on potato chips!

When the blood is deficient in some minerals or biochemic salt, ill-health is the outcome e.g. boils break out,
suppurating blisters become apparent, pimples appear on the face etc. It has been found however, that cider
vinegar helps with the cleansing as well as the clotting of the blood. Oxidation of the blood is very important and
cider vinegar is again an effective treatment for this. Besides introducing the important minerals into the blood stream,
as mentioned above, cider vinegar also helps in the clotting of blood. This is of tremendous help to those people
who are commonly termed 'bleeders', as they live their lives in fear of cutting themselves due to the bloods inability
to clot, and it will also enhance the healing process.

Use the cider vinegar and honey treatment for arthritis and also apply cider vinegar externally to painful joints.
This entails drinking a glass of water with two teaspoons of cider vinegar and two teaspoons of honey three times a day.
Local treatment can also be given by soaking the arthritic hand, or foot in a strong, comfortably hot solution of
cider vinegar for ten minutes, two or three times a day - (a quarter of a cup of cider vinegar to one and a half cups of water).
Arthritic knees can beattended
to by making a poultice - soak the cloth in a mixture of cider vinegar and water, (as per above mixture) wring out
and wrap it around the joint, then secure with a dry cloth to retain heat. When the wet cloth cools, it should be wrung
out in the hot solution and applied afresh. Repeat several times, twice daily.

One tablespoonful of cider vinegar added to a glass of water should be taken in sips for half an hour. After a further
half an hour has elapsed the treatment should be repeated. The wheezing should lessen in intensity quite considerably.
However, should wheezing still persist a second glass of the same mixture should be taken. Deep breathing exercises
are also a beneficial treatment.

It has been discussed above how cider vinegar helps in preventing blood losses. In any circumstances where the flow of
blood is too free and is too persistent, such as when a person has a nose bleed without any apparent reason, then two teaspoons
of cider vinegar in a glass of water, three times a day will aid in restoring the natural clotting properties of the blood.

The cider vinegar and honey treatment has been used effectively in the treatment for colitis. Take the
normal dosage of two
teaspoons cider vinegar and honey with water, three times a day. An enema of a teaspoonful or more
of molasses is also very helpful.

There are many types of coughs for various reasons, and these should be treated with reference to their nature and
intensity. However, the cider vinegar and honey treatment will prove an efficacious treatment in this respect. Two teaspoons
of cider vinegar and two of honey mixed with a glassful of water should be taken before meals, or when the irritation occurs.
In the evening it would be an idea to have this mixture by your bed so that it can be sipped during the evening if an attack presents itself.

It has been mentioned above how cider vinegar helps with the digestion, assimilation and elimination of food, and
that it is an antiseptic to the intestines and the whole of the digestive tract. Due to it's healing properties, diarrhoea can
be controlled in a very short time, (that is unless some serious physical disorder is apparent). The treatment being, one
teaspoonful of cider vinegar in a glass of water should be taken before and inbetween meals i.e. approximately six glasses
during the course of the day. It should be noted, however, that diarrhoea is a natural attempt on the part of the body to
eliminate some poison which is irritating the digestive tract, on no account should any drugs be taken to suppress these
healing symptoms - on the other hand the cider vinegar will lessen the intensity, but will allow the natural course of elimination to take place.

Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar together with two teaspoons of honey in a glass of hot or cold water three times a
day should help this annoying occurrence quite considerably. However, one should never expect instant results, as nature
works slowly, yet very effectively. You will notice a lessened intensity whilst you progress.

The treatment for this complaint, which usually occurs during childhood is: one teaspoonful of cider vinegar in a glass
of water to be taken mid morning and mid afternoon. The discharge should shortly disappear.

Take the usual dosage of cider vinegar and honey in a glassful of water three times a day, with meals. An application of well
diluted cider vinegar can also be applied to the skin several times daily i.e. oneteaspoonful to half a cup of water. Under no
circumstances should salt be taken, as this aggravates the eczema condition considerably. There is usually a potassium
deficiency in those people suffering from eczema.

The cider vinegar therapy together with honey is the essential ingredients here. Two teaspoons of each taken in a glassful
of water, three times a day. This mixture retards the onset of tired and sore eyes which are usually apparent in later life,
as it supplies them with those vital elements essential to their health and functioning.

Chronic fatigue is a warning that the body needs some attention. Most people suffering from chronic fatigue do not have
enough good, sound sleep. Either they go to bed too late, or they are one of those people who just need more sleep than most.
It is better to get as many hours in bed before midnight as possible. To remedy a poor quality sleep, honey is highly
recommended, as it acts as a sedative to the body. Twenty minutes after the honey has been taken into the mouth it has been
digested and absorbed into the body. This is because it is a predigested sugar, which has been digested in the stomach
of the honey bee, and therefore requires no effort on the part of the human stomach for digestion. Keep the following
mixture by your bedside to be taken as indicated: three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of honey.

Take two teaspoons of the mixture before retiring. This should induce sound sleep within an hour, if however, you have been
unable to sleep within this period repeat the dosage.

As mentioned earlier there have been many cases where people who were in the habit of taking cider vinegar regularly never
suffer any side effects from food poisoning. The cider vinegar has an antiseptic quality which seems to render noxious food harmless.

The falling out of hair is primarily due to a tissue salt deficiency, thus cider vinegar with its 'wonder products' will
re-establish a natural balance, and supply the deficiencies where needed. Therefore, by taking the cider vinegar treatment
the hair will maintain its natural growth. It will cease to fall out and grow more rapidly and thickly. This will take
approximately two months, so perseverence is needed. The dosage is one teaspoonful of cider vinegar to a glass of water to
be taken with or between meals. Cider vinegar can also be used externally for the treatment of dandruff, see under heading of External Treatments.

This ailment is marked by watery eyes, sneezing and running nose, in other words there is an excess of fluid which the
body is drastically trying to offload. For an effective relief, honey and cider vinegar should be utilized which will bring
excellent results. A tablespoonful of honey should be taken after each meal for approximately a fortnight before the onset
of the hay-fever season. The ordinary dosage of cider vinegar and honey should then be taken viz: two teaspoons of cider vinegar
and two of honey in a glass of water, three times a day. This dosage should be maintained during the entire hay-fever season.

There are several types of headache, caused by various reasons. Some are associated with organic disorders, such as
kidney troubles, others are known as psychogenic, or tension headaches. Then we have the most annoying of all;
the migraine headache. Many people have had relief from headaches by the use of honey. Two teaspoons taken at each
meal may well prevent an attack. Another effective means is to take apple cider vinegar. Equal parts of cider vinegar and
water should be placed in a small basin on the stove, allowing it to boil slowly. When the fumes begin to rise from the basin
lean your head over it until the fumes are comfortably strong. Inhale for approximately 50 to 80 breaths. Generally this
alleviates the headache considerably, if not entirely.

(Impaired) The treatment of impaired hearing has had excellent results on the apple cider vinegar therapy. Take the normal
dosage three times daily and notice the improvement.

This usually occurs after eating, sometimes up to two hours later. This very unpleasant feeling can be alleviated by taking
the usual dosage of cider vinegar and water before meals.

As previously pointed out cider vinegar helps the blood to clot more easily. When a person who regularly drinks
cider vinegar cuts himself, the wound will dry up almost instantaneously, as there will be no profuse bleeding. If, however,
wounds do not heal quickly, the following procedure should be undertaken; two teaspoons of cider vinegar taken in half
or a whole glass of water at mealtimes as well as in between, therefore six glasses in all are imbibed. For extra efficiency
a very weak solution of cider vinegar with water can be applied to the sore, wound or cut.

Poultices of cider vinegar (see instructions under the heading Arthritis) can be applied to a stubborn open wound.

These have been known to be eradicated by drinking a teaspoon of cider vinegar neat! Alternatively cider vinegar with
water can be taken before mealtimes to prevent this occurrence.

There are a number of reasons why a person suffers from this common yet serious condition. As mentioned earlier, health
will be maintained only if one is prepared to adjust his living and eating habits. Cider vinegar is not the cure-ail of man's
suffering, it is only one of the many means towards a healthier and happier life. In the case of High Blood Pressure, one's eating habits must be taken stock of to ensure a speedy and effective recovery. Emphasis is on the natural, organically grown foods which are
given to us in the form of fresh fruits, vegetables and honey - rather than the high protein foods which include eggs, meat,
milk, cheese, nuts, beans etc. A balance must be maintained between the proteins and carbohydrates and one should
definitely not over indulge on these protein and starchy foods. Wheat products should also be eliminated completely,
together with salt which is very detrimental to the health, especially for those suffering from high blood pressure.
The following dosage should be taken daily: two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and honey in a glass of water - up to three to four times a day.

There are also a number of causes as to why people suffer from insomnia; however, there have been excellent results
with the cider vinegar and honey treatment as follows: two teaspoons of cider vinegar and two of honey in a glass of water
to be taken before retiring. It would also be beneficial to have a glass of this mixture by the bedside to sip if needed. Under
no circumstances should drugs be resorted to, as these are both harmful and habit-forming. Under severe cases, a naturopath
or homeopath should be consulted. If has been found that the prime cause of insomnia is due to a deficiency of phosphate
of potash and phosphate of iron; this combination can be found in the biochemic salt known as kali phos, which can be
obtained from your local health shop.

Due to the eliminative nature of cider vinegar, the kidneys and bladder can benefit tremendously by a 'flushing', which
they receive when the following cider vinegar therapy is undertaken: two teaspoons of cider vinegar in a glass of water
six times a day. It would be beneficial to drink a couple of glasses of water in the morning, taking one teaspoonful of
cider vinegar in each drink. Comfrey tea, first thing in the morning with a teaspoon of cider vinegar will also create a
sufficient cleansing action. Inflammation of the kidneys, called pyelitis, in which pus cells are present in the urine, will
generally clear up with the above-mentioned treatment.

Chronic pains and profuse menstruation has afflicted women for centuries. The cider vinegar therapy certainly regulates
and normalizes profuse bleeding. The dosage should be as normal i.e. two teaspoons of cider vinegar in a glassful of water
three times a day. The diet should also be taken into consideration, as a high animal protein diet together with wheat products
will cause considerable pain when the periods begin. In other words moderation should be used if one is partaking of these
foods. However, meat, poultry, fish and wheat should be completely eliminated from the diet, together with the other
unnatural foods of which man is so prone. A noticeable improvement will be experienced when the diet is kept to the fresh
raw fruits and fresh salads, together with the apple cider vinegar therapy. Also plenty of water should be taken whilst
menstruating, as this helps in a speedy elimination.

Postnasal drips and watery eyes are also due to a faulty diet, here again this should be thoroughly investigated,
as the body is eliminating excessive mucous caused by the wrong types of food. This is often caused by a lack of
potassium in the diet too, hence the cider vinegar therapy will help considerably. The usual dosage as prescribed
above should be taken three times a day before meals. Wheat should be eliminated from the diet completely and
rye and corn products should be substituted, if required.

Brittle, cracking, fragile and thin nails are a sign of some deficiency and faulty metabolism in the body. Cider vinegar has
been known to remedy this particular complaint, with the results of healthy, strong nails. Also any white spots which
were present on the nails previously will be eliminated. Dosage being: two teaspoons in a glassful of water three times a day.

There have been cases where nervousness has been remedied with the cider vinegar and honey treatment. In this instance
a glassful of water mixed with two teaspoons of each i.e. cider vinegar and honey to be taken three times a day. Refined
flour and sugar products should be completely eliminated from the diet, together with wheat products. One should also
cut down on the starch and high protein foods as much as possible and eat plenty of fresh salads and fruit.

As an excessive nose bleed is caused by the blood being unable to clot as it should normally, the cider vinegar treatment
will prove efficacious in this respect i.e. two teaspoons of cider vinegar in a glassful of water three times daily.

In this respect the cider vinegar can be used as an inhalant. Use as per method described under the heading Headaches.
The nasal passages will shortly clear after having inhaled the vapour. This treatment is very effective in removing the
congestion in the sinuses, together with any inflammation which may result from this excessive accumulation of mucous.

There are a number of reasons why a person is assailed with excessive fat deposits. This is apparent in both sexes and cannot,
from professional data, be attributed to any one major factor. Obesity, often eventuates from the excessive intake of alcohol,
thereby causing water retention in the tissues. This is often apparent by the 'swollen' appearance of the face. There are also
certain drugs which are apt to cause obesity and thus the body increases in weight. Overeating, insufficient oxidation of the
blood, insufficient exercise, lack of fresh air etc, are also attributed to this ailment. However, Cyril Scott mentions in his booklet
on cider vinegar that the prime cause of obesity is the insufficient oxidation of the blood, he goes on to say, "Now the safe and
salubrious treatment, proved over years of trial, is to be found in nothing more complicated than cider vinegar - the reason being,
as already implied, that the ailment is conductive to the proper oxidation of the blood." Two teaspoons of cider vinegar should
be taken in a glassful of water on rising in the morning. To obtain the best results possible this should be taken before each
meal and during the day over a period of some time. Natural methods always take longer to work, as the body has to adapt itself,
especially the skin in this instance, as if too much weight is lost in a short period of time, then it will hang and look unsightly.
The drink should be sipped during the course of the meal which will also prevent overeating and it will promote digestion.
According to some authorities, the average weight reduction is 1.5 Ibs. a week. This all depends upon whether the diet has been
adjusted. Salt should be discontinued immediately as this harmful commodity retains water - herbal beverages such as comfrey
should take the place of tea and coffee. Wholesome, nutritious and MODERATION is the key to weightless, together
with deep breathing and physical exercise.

Cider vinegar relieves the pain arising from shingles if applied, undiluted, six times daily to the area of distress. It also
promotes the healing. Take internally as well as prescribed above.

To treat this, one should gargle with apple cider vinegar. One teaspoonful of vinegar in a glass of water is the dosage to be used.
A mouthful of this solution is gargled every hour, and the second mouthful after gargling should be swollowed. This is to be
repeated every hour until the condition of the throat is improved.

Due to cider vinegar improving the calcium metabolism of the body, it is excellent for improving the condition of the teeth.
Tartar deposits can also be eradicated by using the cider vinegar as a mouthwash and by brushing your teeth with it to
enhance the whiteness (see Editor's note below). For the mouthwash, one teaspoonful of cider vinegar should be added to a
glassful of water - repeat this procedure each night until the required results are achieved (see Editor's note below). This
habit, together with the drinking of cider vinegar will prevent tooth decay quite considerably. The mouthwash can also be
used for sore gums, or ulcerated gums - be sure that the solution is not too strong in this case, as it will slightly sting an
open sore (see Editor's note below).

Editor's note: Brushing your teeth with apple cider vinegar is probably not safe; it may be too acidic for your tooth enamel.
Using the mixture as a mouthwash should not be a problem for your tooth enamel since it is a very weak mixture, but you
can rinse your mouth out with plain water afterwards just to be safe. Drinking natural apple cider vinegar mixed with honey
in a glass full of water for health should be no problem for tooth enamel since you drink it straight down and because this
is usually done before a meal. But, you can always rinse your mouth out with plain water afterwards just to be safe.

Apply undiluted cider vinegar to the area where the veins are affected. This should be undertaken in the morning and evening.
Massage well - always directed towards the heart e.g. as in the case of the legs, start from the ankles and move in upward
strokes towards the thigh. Cider vinegar and honey should also be taken three times a day, i.e. two teaspoons of
cider vinegar and two of honey mixed with a glassful of water.

As cider vinegar supplies those organs of the body which are deficient in some mineral and normalizes the functioning of these
organs, those who are underweight will find that cider vinegar will help in normalizing their weight. In this instance the
following dosage should be adhered to: two teaspoons of cider vinegar and two of honey in a glass of water three times a day.

(Also see Obesity) Cider vinegar will gradually decrease the weight of the body, as it tends to make the body burn up the
fat instead of storing it. Some people have had results by just taking the cider vinegar without adjusting their eating habits.
However, it is recommended that one should concentrate on the LIVE FOODS, rather than continue to live on the
devitalized diet which is so prevalent today. The cider vinegar method, as mentioned under Obesity should be utilized three times daily.

The skin is a very important part of the body, as it is the major organ of elimination. Besides being an effective
eliminator the skin also absorbs substances into the body. In view of this fact it is very important to understand that we
should be very careful with what we place on the skin. Unnatural substances such as cosmetics, which contain chemicals
are very detrimental to the skin health. This is also true for the comrnercial soap which we use for washing the body. The
skin needs an acid mantle to maintain its lustre and glow - however, due to the extreme alkalinity of soap reacting on the skin,
this causes a number of disorders. Soap also contains animal fats and hormones, synthetic perfumes and preservatives;
therefore, it should not be used to cleanse the body.

However, cider vinegar is an effective method of cleansing the body. A hand bath or a full bath can be taken in cider vinegar
and water. A hand bath should be preceded as follows: to half a glass of warm water should be added one teaspoonful of apple
cider vinegar. Cup the palm of the hand and pour in approximately a palmful of the mixture. First apply to the arms and
shoulders, rubbing the solution into the skin briskly. The legs and feet can be done in the same manner, together with the body.
A brisk rubbing action should be used to massage the cider vinegar solution into the skin. You will soon find that the solution
has been completely absorbed by the skin, therefore, no towelling down is needed.

Instead of using soap, add a half pint of apple cider vinegar to the water and remain submerged in the water for at least
fifteen minutes so that the skin surface of the body may have a chance to absorb some of the acid water. This is extremely
important for those people who have an alkaline skin; this condition will be indicated by those people who continually suffer
from skin irritation, and they are forever scratching their skin.

Take one teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar mixed with a glassful of water - dip your comb into the solution and comb the
hair thoroughly until saturated. This should be performed fifteen minutes or so before actually washing the hair. This treatment
also helps with the elimination of dandruff.

Probiotic for Horses

PRO BI is a biological feed additive designed to maximize digestive efficiency.

Why is Pro Bi different? How does it work?

Pro Bi is a prebiotic, not a probiotic. Pro BI is food for microflora and substrate
that creates a supreme environment for microflora to colonize and multiply at an accelerated rate.

This is why Pro Bi is so effectice. Benefits are realized rapidly and consistently.
Pro Bi consists of 90% Prebiotics (food for digestive microflora) , 5% Probiotics (digests microflora), 5% Enzymes.

Pro Bi doesn't have to be refigerated. Shelf Life is forever.

A horse's beneficial intestinal bacteria can be destroyed or depleted and the
pH of their environment can be altered during times of stress. Competion, travel and breeding
or treatment with antibiotics, dewormers and other medications can cause this stress.
Stress can also be created by alterations of weather, environment, feeds and water.

Without the beneficial intestinal bacteria, food ferments instead of being digested.
Undigested foods may then lead to situations of colic, bloat, founder and increase the possibility
of developing allergic conditions. PRO BI contains a natural fermented extract plus a number of herbs,
such as Ginger, Peppermint, Dandelion and Violet Leaves which nourish the natural bacteria
and encourages them to reproduce and multiply at a rapid rate. Most bacteria reproduce
every 15 minutes, so it is possible to speed recovery of a colic case or even treat some simple colics entirely with PRO BI.

PRO BI is the benefit of microbials; no waiting,
It Just Works! Best of all no worry about shelf life.

Ingredients: Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product,
Alo Vera, Chlorophyll Liquid, Peppermint, Ginger,

Digestive Supplements to increase absorption of nutrients consumed!

Guideline for Achieving and improving quality of life for animals through natural nutrition:

1) Always focus on the cause of a disease or problem, not the symptom.

2) Refrain from Research and Development involved in symptom relief.

3) We believe most poor health problems in animals are due to a nutritional deficiency caused by the confinement of animals, thereby limiting their access to a variety of nutritional ingredients.

4) Often improvement in health can be dramatic when furnishing a balanced diet or adding nutrients that are lacking in the animal's diet. Not unlike giving food to a starving animal, this creates a dramatic improvement in health. This mode of nutritionally assisting animals must not be confused with drug therapy or medicine. We do not prescribe replacing the body's own mode of action through supplementation with synthetic chemicals and artificial components. We supply the body with what it needs to repair itself.

5) We do not prescribe the use of poisons or mega doses of single nutrients to enhance performance.

Note on Free Choice items:

Horses need more credit! It has been incorrectly assumed that horses are identical, and that they have no ability to sense their nutritional requirements. The only things they've been trusted with are water and salt! Everyone knows that God did not create any two animals to be exactly alike or to have the exact same needs. Instead, He created horses to be able to decide what they need, and He's provided the natural resources to fulfill their needs. All creatures have survived for thousands of years without extra help from science. Let's keep it simple and give horses the freedom to choose. (Free Choice Research Data available upon request.)

Plato's TESTIMONY: Super Vitamins Plus and My Special Feed Mix

Subject: Re: Plato
I'm so happy that I was put in touch with you and that my buddies problem has not been a problem for quite some time now. I have also put my daughters 3 yr. old paint on the mix too. I brought him here to work with him while she recovers from a bad foot injury. He is so hard to get weight on and just was so growthy in height. He has been here for 3 weeks now and I am starting to notice a weight gain. Plato on the other hand does not need the weight but he is pretty beefy!!! He has always been an easy keeper anyway. Maybe I should cut him back on the coca-soya. :-) Oh well, he does not mind being fat and happy!!! Take care and God bless and again thanks.
